SAN JOSE CA - February 3, 2022 - "Santa Clara County Deputy Sheriffs' Association (DSA) Endorses Candidate Kevin Jensen for Sheriff.'
"On January 31, 2022, the Deputy Sheriffs' Association of Santa Clara County (DSA) voted overwhelming to endorse former Captain Kevin Jensen for Sheriff of Santa Clara County. Former Captain Kevin Jensen's leadership qualities emphasize the level of trust, integrity, and compassion that is expected from our elected leaders, by the Deputy Sheriff's Association membership, as well as the residents of Santa Clara County," said Ryan Elder, President of the Santa Clara County Deputy Sheriffs' Association. "We wholeheartedly endorse his commitment to bring focused leadership and collaborative spirit to address the many challenges our department is facing."
In his response to the DSA endorsement, Kevin Jensen stated, "I sincerely appreciate the men and women of the Deputy Sheriffs' Association who do the hard work in such difficult times. They sent a clear and powerful message after hearing from all candidates. With 97% endorsing me and my longstanding efforts to oppose mismanagement and stand for ethics and excellence, I am further encouraged that I will soon have the opportunity to make the positive changes for our community and agency that I and so many have called for so long.
I look forward to working with the Deputy Sheriffs' Association and all stakeholders in setting a new standard of excellence at all levels in the Sheriff's Office with integrity, fairness, and accountability as the foundation moving forward. I am committed to regaining the trust of our community by leading the Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office to a culture in which everyone receives exceptional service and fair treatment from honorable public servants.
Captain Jensen is a 28-year veteran of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office who has served in many Executive Management and Management positions and a wide range of administrative, operational and tactical positions. These include serving in Patrol, Courts, Assistant Chief of the Department of Correction, the Elmwood Detention Facility Commander, Jail Administrative Commander, Stanford PS Liaison and served as the Risk Program Manager for California's state-wide Urban Area Security Initiatives, a critical public safety component tasked with assisting with the prevention of terrorist acts as well as mitigation, response and recovery. Captain Jensen holds a Masters' Degree in Leadership, a Bachelor's Degree in Management, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
